Opportunity Poem by Kay Moore

"OPPORTUNITY" ON MARS

Perserverence Valley, so far, far, away,
Has recently shared an image,
Not seen for many a day.
Oursilent "Opportunity" rover,
Hibernating for so long,
A hundred days or more,
The signal no longer strong,
The fiercest dust storm in Martian history,
Has silenced our rovers call.
We need the batteries heated,
To transmit messages for us all.
So we watch with baited breath,
In hope to receive a sound.
Astronomers world over,
Have their ears zoned to the ground.
That our fourteen year old teenager,
Is ready to rock-n-roll,
Fire the batteries up again,
Taking rover for a stroll.
Let the robots turn the solar panels,
To be re-charged by the sun.
Soon the purring, and the pulsing,
May soon have all begun.
Bursting with the current news,
Our waiting time, all over,
Receiving the latest weather report,
From "Opportunity"earths famous rover.
