Succinct and bleak- -very nice.
Your poem echoes a common feeling. It might be the new millennium blues, though. The world is changing faster than it ever has- (the computer may be more revolutionary than any invention that preceded it) . Terrorism, social networking, gov't spying on its own citizens, plastic in the oceans, space-junk, overpopulation, climate-change- -there are so many problems that seem insurmountable, and we hear about them every minute of every day. It wasn't like that when I was a kid; we had reason to hope.
Corruption is born when one loses hope for the future, and loses faith in legitimacy.
