Outside Perspective Poem by Jennifer Petty

Outside Perspective

Losing a friend
To dope
Is like watching
A tar hole
Slowly suck
The shell of a human
Filled with empty desperation
Into it’s oblivion.
And while you may try
To rescue them by
Throwing a rope,
It doesn’t do any good
Unless they reach out
And grab it.
