Page 9. Poem by Amber Egan

Page 9.

I know who I am.
If she does not see it no one can,
One year one, narcotic fog gone, scars remain
'Oh how Im different and you're all the same'

Naivety is mind boggling, pitiful
Im older than her it seems. And Im back.
We will take on the world, wanderlust,
Different for everybody.

Maybe what I think of her is untrue,
I pray to myself for reassurance.

I will help myself to help her - pick her up to understand,
Shaking the shoulders of wisdom,
you have the answers, you do!
But I have the answers to the questions you ask and those you cannot.

Accepting hierarchy. I am me and knowing oneself is key.
Wearing contentment around my neck. She is not me.
