Pain Poem by Meera Seen

Pain

Rating: 5.0

Pain, you came in
Though I didn’t hear your knock.
I feel you inside me
Hiding in corners,
Tingling my memory every other second.
Your voice vibrates within me
Like the sea trapped in the shell.
You give me no rest!
Sleep gives in before your persistence.

Pain, were you always inside me,
Staying where I couldn’t see?
You are the colour of my regrets,
My fears and my despair.
You speak through my heart beats:
Their frenzy naming you
Each time to my ears.

Pain, I have to overcome you
This time.
I have to turn deaf to your voice
For now.
There’s no other way!
Pain, if you can’t leave me in peace,
Stay within me,
But mute your voice
And
Leave your spite for another day.
