Pain's Delight... Poem by Rey Sanidad

Pain's Delight...

Deep in my heart,
with plenty of bitter Pain,
Lives a thought that clamors for love,
And spends its unrelieved force in vain.

Once...
Recklessly in some minutes of joy,
I made a song of pain.
Soon Grief drew near, and paused to hear,
And sang the sad refrain, again and again.

Still...
Wildly in my long hours of despair,
I sang a song of hope with teary eyes.
And Joy turned back upon life's track,
And smiled, and came my way.

And said...
Weep no more I'm here to stay awhile,
and offered her lap to rest my head.

But I...
Your lap should only be a spring night's dream
If I accepted it to rest my head upon...
There would be rumours and no Delight.
