Paint Me A Picture Poem by Paula Glynn

Paint Me A Picture

Paint me a picture of the beauty known as life,
Where flowers of all colours bloom in the spring and summer,
And autumn paints a spooky picture,
With the ghouls and ghosts of Halloween.

Look out the window on an airplane,
And take a snapshot of the clouds whizzing past,
And enjoy the freedom of flying in a reachable sky,
As you question science and the thought of why.

Eat a bowl of ice cream in the heat of a summers day,
Whether the flavour is vanilla, chocolate or strawberry.
Just enjoy your freedom, in which you wear flipflops,
And sunglasses that protect your eyes from a hot, hot sky.

When winter rolls in; as inevitable as this is,
Put on your wellies and make snow angels,
And snowmen, as children throw those snowballs,
Laughing and playing as their breath mists the air.

Go to an art gallery and admire the artists work,
For the way women are portrayed are scrumptious,
And soft: very different to the anorexic look,
Of all those skinny girls in those fashion magazines.

Eat your breakfast and eat your dinner,
Enjoy the magical delights of food.
Enjoy nights in the city,
The lights neon bright and people pretty.

Read science fiction novels and imagine spaceships,
And airplanes, flying faster than the speed of light,
And watch those John Wayne movies,
And films where Jackie Chan kicks ass.

Be creative, use your imagination, be yourself,
Paint yourself a picture of anything and everything.
Have no limits or boundaries,
And listen to Michael Jackson songs,
And be the hero he would admire and respect.
