Paradise Of Eagles Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Paradise Of Eagles

Somewhere in space,
Somewhere in paradise;
Great eagles flock
As they themselves are one.

They have a place,
One that these birds dream of
From the moment
Their proud lives had begun.

And all I want
Is to be in that land
Where people say
I can fly with angels.

So may God grant
My deep, child-like prayer
To nest among
These glorious eagles.

For I believe
I can learn from these kings
Who rule the air
And take proper command.

Let me receive
The eyes of their insight
That I may share
What I can understand.

I will take flight,
Yes, soon people will hear
When man defies
The fate which the earth had.

In dawning light,
The morn rises with me
To gather faith
To take wing and be glad.

At last I fly
This endless horizon
To that haven
Where I am bound to go.

Beyond the sky
Where hovering seems sweet,
I firmly soar
Today and tomorrow.
