Parrot Syndrome & The Banana Effect Poem by Luke Easter

Parrot Syndrome & The Banana Effect

Your mind must work like radar to swiftly detect,
The parrot syndrome and the deadly banana effect,
Repeating the negative nullifies words that are real,
Manufacturing a covering soon impossible to peel.

Whatever is planted in your field is what springs up,
Who drinks milk from a can, pop from a coffee cup?
When a volcano explodes nothing but lava will erupt,
Only cats have kittens while dogs give birth to pups.

Romans 10: 17, “faith comes by hearing of the word, ”
Doubt comes the same way so, what have you heard?
Better still, exactly what is it that you hear and repeat?
Which is claimed, the joy of victory or agony of defeat?

I heard a story on the national news just the other day,
A woman crying out for help sent police on their way,
It wasn’t a woman but a cockatoo mimicking distress,
Are you chanting a vocal image of failure or success?

Maybe it is said too little then again it’s not said enough,
Remember, when the tough get going the going gets tough,
As the bumps get bigger, the valleys deeper, the rivers wide,
Who will be found on the battlefront & who will run and hide?

I know a guy with a bird, specifically it is an African Gray,
Inside the house, curse words his nasty Birdie is heard to say,
A couple from church, same pet but you’ll hear a bible verse,
Birds don’t create words; they simply hear and then rehearse.

It’s all about what you say and never what the Parrot thinks,
A chain will only be as strong as the weak banana in its link,
Not satisfied with the status quo you boldly ask God for a lot,
Satan has launched an attack, either want it or you do not!

Salvation is a priceless free gift and that’s very good news,
But, to receive the other promises you have to pay your dues,
Thunder, lightning and clouds are you quick to say, “I can’t? ”
1 of the smallest insects yet the most powerful is the tiny ant.

French Parrots will say, “que sera sera” whatever will be will be,
That is exactly what occurs when repeating anything negatively,
In English and any foreign language province, affiliated country,
Slaves didn’t stay slaves only because they spoke of the victory.

They acted on it, reaching out, putting feet to their faith,
Even though hundreds of years, repression, they had to wait,
As it is better late than never and not never instead of late,
With the keys in your hands do you open or lock the gate?

We’re the only creatures able to speak to our situations and say,
Word for word what the bible says when storms turn our way,
Declare the positive parrot and not the negative bird you feel,
Who wants to suffocate inside a casket made by banana peels?
