Pass Up The Decay Of Influence And Take A Walk With Me Poem by Katherine Perry

Pass Up The Decay Of Influence And Take A Walk With Me

Rating: 4.8

Driving through an unfamiliar sceen
I feel like I am above to what i have seen
I should have stopped and got out of my car to say
'How are you doing, isn't this a nice day'

I walk into the hospital room
But I dare not go near
In fear of their ailments and wounds
There wounds that brought them here
Why couldn't i just walk up and say
'How are you doing, isn't this a nice day'

I look across the room and see the obese one's guilt
and shame
So I turn away in disgust and say 'Thear only to blame'
Why couldn't i just walk up and say
'How are you doing, isn't this a nice day'

Oh Lord tell me why
Why can't I see the things that you can see
Help me Lord, I want to be like you
Help me to see the things that you do

She walks these streets almost every day
Alone and invisible to those who pass her way
Shopping cart filled with treasures untold
Desperately trying to speak as her life unfolds
Then she reaches out to touch your coat and says
'That must be nice and warm' as she swallows the
tears down her throat
Why couldn't i just stop and give her a few minutes
of my day to say'How are you doing, isn't this a nice day'

If I could just close my eyes everywhere that i go
These worldly things I would not know
I would walk with you in my spirit and heart
Then all these man-made things couldn't tear us apart
Then no more grouping the colors of our flesh
No more rich man and no man poorer than the rest
And then yes, I could always walk up and say
'How are you doing, isn't this a nice day'

BUT GOD DOES NOT WANT US TO HAVE TO CLOSE OUR EYES TO SEE
HE SAID' DON'T WORRY, KEEP THEM OPEN, AND TAKE A WALK WITH ME'!
