Passing Glance Poem by Emily Straka

Passing Glance

Rating: 3.5

A passing glance is all people ever see.
We don't look deep enough,
dig far enough,
reach out enough,
and don't care enough.
One look is all we need;
to judge,
to rant,
to catagorize,
to believe.
All it takes is a passing glance
to make us think we know everything.
The truth is-
the more we think we know
the less we actually know,
actually care.
We act upon impulse,
not knowing the damge we may cause.
We are the root of evil,
we are the essence of good.
We have no reason and don't care to.
We are nothing,
yet we are everything.
We are love and we are hate.
We are dreams and we are nightmares.
We live our life in fear of what might happen,
and what might never happen.
We criticize everyone else,
but never ourselves.
It all starts with a passing glance,
but it never ends.

Emily, this is a good poem. It shows so much maturity and understanding of people and life. 'we don't look deep enough dig far enough reach out enough' This is deep and profound thinking. The whole poem is well penned. It deserves 10.
