Passion Is Recharged. Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Passion Is Recharged.

"Because you told me that you would come here
To attend the meet, I have come here, sir."
She told me when she met me in the meeting.
She retains her lovely feature intact
But betrays her lose skin from diabetes.
She insisted me to visit her house
As if not sufficient was the chat we'd had.
‘Too remote to see again.', was her anguish.

Twenty years younger, she had worked with me
Thirty years ago, at thirty-two.
So free, so bold, with a tempting figure
She moved around, exciting men around
And yet with a look exclusive for me.
Her concern for me must be the reason
For her to drop on her way to see me
Later when I worked in a place away.

It is my privilege that she invited me.
It is my fortune that I availed of it.
We sat across the table over a tea
And talked to our heart content for an hour
With the sole purpose of seeing each other,
In the presence of my supportive friend.
I left her, taking her image and feels
To preserve, with no more chance to see her.

A day later she chose to send a mail
As if to express thanks for my visit
And added how happy she was with me.
Also, she recollected our sojourn
About thirty years ago and marvelled
At my physique which is as impressive
As it was then, thanks to my maintaining.
We may not see again but will forget not.
