Past Poem by Romesh De Silva

Past

Past Opportunities I have missed
Life and death have made up, they have kissed, Flip a coin, heads or tails? Backward motion, my mood has set sail
State of mind unworthy to dream
The yellow brick road we are to follow, fades to black it would seem
I sit and glare at the clock
Time starts to laugh loudly, TICK TOCK TICK! Big hand points and starts to mock with words that make me sick
My journey motionless, at a standstill
I feel the drop of a tear, wait, my hands are full
Why won’t this moment pass me by
I just want to curl up, lie down, scream out to the world and cry
My own wisdom I share with friends, with others, is but a whisper
Thoughts blank, eyes glazed
My body weeps and shudders
Words can’t describe how much I miss you.
