Pay Me Poem by Buddy Bee Anthony

Pay Me

I'm not an exhibit at your zoo,
I'm not your circus monkey playing the kazoo.
They call me Smooth move
Your main man with sweet rhythm and blues.
the cream of the crop
who the flock are you?
Shut up and pay me.

I'm the wow in your purple haze
If you want the easiest breeziest
play by play.
The main event
happening today.
a cut above the rest
I'm the latest and
the best
who the flock are you?
shut up and pay me.

My aim is true.
I'm not some cockroach to squash
under your shoe.
Locked, cocked and loaded.
Rocket engines thrusting skyward.
A spectacle of magic
that's what I do.
Tribute is payment
and payment's past due
so sit your ass down
shut up
and pay me
