Paying Their Respects Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Paying Their Respects

Each leader speaks.
From a podium.
Giving latest updates,
Of what they have discovered...
To benefit the people.
At a press conference.
Relaying their decisions,
Agreed upon and reached.
Yet...
The news reporters,
Seem to ignore what they hear.
As their eyes search the sky.
Why?

"Excuse me.
Isn't this a press conference? "

-Yes.
Why? -

"The reporters.
The news reporters?
Why and what are they doing?
Looking up at the sky like that."

-We have all decided to finally,
Pay our respect.-

"Pay respect?
To who and...
What! ? "

-Clarity.
So much of it,
Has been missed these days.-
