Peace Poem by Jon Evans

Peace

Peace
Can be found deep down in the heart
Peace
Can easily be torn apart
Peace
Once found, keeps a strong binding seal
Peace
Something people forget to feel.

With peace people truly find happiness inside
However, misconstrued ideals meant others have died
For this we shall always weep
For the peace we never keep.

Why must we turn to bad?
Why do we have to get so mad?
All we do is tear ourselves asunder
Send others that sound of thunder.
BOOM! Is what they hear
Sure death, is what they fear.
This lack of peace destroys the world
I wonder if Global peace will ever be unfurled.

Maybe Peace shall never be.
Maybe it’s something we just can’t see.
Civilisation may only thrive because it is missing
This death we keep on kissing
Maybe it’s just nature’s way
To keep us at bay
As the world is only small
And each man is a fool

So just maybe this lack of peace is needed
Should peace really be pleaded?
Does love come from the peace we lack?
As surely hate brings us back
To the ones who will always be there
Even when there’s too much to bear
For without it the meaning would be gone
As without it the light would never have shone
Calling out for help in times of need
Waiting for those who stop us bleed.

From this, my mind redeems
That peace inside isn’t what it seems
As inner peace is caused by battle
Many structures need to rattle
For this brings us closer to those special things
Which when without, our heart stings
So the outlook on peace is amiss
So down we fall into the abyss
For global peace shall not be found
For advancements are always bound
Most of which are through debate
However peace inside we can create
As this allows us to live as intended
As someone shall always be offended
For the human race to grow
Disagreement we must show
It is part of who we are
Whether it is near or whether it is far.
So, global peace is what many long for
But with this man is no more
For many strive to change what is mankind
When in reality, true peace is only in our mind.
