A melody caught my ear today,
It deeply touched my soul,
I heard a duet being performed
By a lark and an oriole
A gnarly branch became their stage,
Their theater was a tree,
A background curtain of flowers and clouds
Left the audience in ecstasy
Their song was a lilting warble,
The notes did float and dance,
So mesmerized by their sweet tones,
I stood there as if in a trance
My thoughts wandered to happier times
When my darling sang to me.....
Every note, every word from his lips
Was like a lover's symphony
Slowly, the music started to fade,
Then one day, silence fell,
My eyes learned to fill with tears,
In my heart, sadness came to dwell
Today, the lark and the oriole
Enchanted me with their song,
My solitude has become my peace.....
I'm content with the feathered throng
to MyPoemList. the birds and rhyming triumphed over the revulsion caused by 'love' poems. heh heh. bri :) I'll find your place of solitude; please don't think I am rude. I'll sing you a tune I learned in bog. I am 'your' lonely lovesick frog. bri :)
Beautiful. Connects to my heart. Sitting in my back yard I too have learned to recognize the duets sang by those birds hidden in trees. Thank you for sharing.
It is a very well written poem. Thank you for it. :) G.

The last three stanzas are sad and touchy! All your poems are like beautiful songs. Sadness is sweet in solitude.10/10.

time so often turns fulfillment in love into solitude of peace, but signs of love are never gone.
