Peaceful Shores Poem by Stan Rodriguez

Peaceful Shores

Searching moonward—flowing on the open sea
you caught me by surprise
pointing north, I didn't understand…

Full lips smiling—knowing who I was
you said you found me in a dream
left over from a broken past,
I still didn't remember you

Or were you the one holding in the shadows
wanting to be held—waiting for your chance at me?

The stars fell around us then, brightening the murky waters
Now I remember the where and who
the full-lipped smiles still smiling back at me
your finger pointing north.

Then I understood, in the center of my being
north toward our hearts—home was waiting
our long-awaited search is over

Swimming in dreams on peaceful shores.
