Peniamina Poem by Melissa Hurst

Peniamina

Existing in a feigned bliss
A dear one I kissed
After a fourth and final departure.

Persisting in my want
I cannot forgo this clinging woe!
For it contains memories
of your talk and walk.

The statue and stature
Subdues and raptures me
To heights I've never known.

A power that he is unaware
He holds controls
And seduces me
But I gleefully bask
In what torments me.

Love's immense capability
Hinders my abilities
Until I am stiff
And lamenting of
unrequited servitude.

Peniamina, ten past twenty
And as unattainable
As a simpleton
Seeking a fortune.

Peniamina, one I once had
And I remain
The one you own
Without admission
From your tongue.
