Perceptions Poem by Jodie Mayhew

Perceptions

Perception is Not Debatable
My Eyes to you Unseen
You Cannot Pass your Judgement if
You Don't Know where I've been

People Much Too Critical
Chameleons in Clothes
Passing Comments sound like Jest
But Rather casting stones
So Ruthless in Objection
And Refusal just to see
The Harm of their Rejection with
Their Dissident Beliefs

Some Hierarchy of Society
Feel the Right To Insolence
Some Folk dwelling in Poverty
Feel Irate at Government
But even then its not just Class
At times we're All like that
So Easily...We Tend To Be
Condemning Without Fact

People can live So Blinded by
The Things We Say and Do
And just because We think it So
It Does Not Make It True!
We Cannot Mock the Choices
Of Others Right To Be
We Don't Have Cause to Argue when
We Can't See What They've Seen
So Before The Words Come Out Your Mouth
A Little Food For Thought
We Each Decide What We Believe
But Mostly.....We Are Taught.Jx
