Mary Jesusa Villegas

Or maybe I just want it

to be perfect

I want me to be perfect

I want you to be perfect

Maybe I will always be

like this

always weak

until I realized

that I need someone to be strong

until I realize

that I can't do it alone

until I realize that I was

when you came along

but it's too late

I let you go.

I just want it

to be perfect.

I want to be,

Therefore, I can't

You know I just want to

rest on your shoulder and cry

on your chest. I'm tired of myself,

always wanting to be perfect.

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Edward Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
