Pete's Pet Parakeet Poem by G J Salgado

Pete's Pet Parakeet

As Pete came home from work, he greeted his favorite bird.
'It's Pete, ' said the parakeet.
'It's Pete.'Hello Joe my pet parakeet! ' Answered Pete.
After Pete fed Joe he noticed a locket placed by Joe's cage.
'Whose locket is this my friend? ' Pete asks Joe.
'Locket, she keeps, ' answered Joe.
'She keeps? ' Repeated Pete.
'She kept, she kept, ' Joe yells.
A puzzled Pete runs upstairs to find his mate. Instead he finds an empty room. So he runs back down stairs to question Joe.
'Where's Kate? ' Pete asks. 'Where's Kate? ' He repeats.
'Your late, ' Joe tells.
'Late? ' Pete repeats.
'Your too late, ' Joe yells.'Where is she Joe? ' Asks Pete.
'She wept, ' Joe tells.
'She wept? ' Pete repeats.
'She left, ' Joe tells.
'What do you mean Kate left? ' Pete recalled.
'Kate left, she left, ' Joe yells.
'I can't believe this! ' Pete yells.'Why? Why? '
''Date, date, ' Joe tells.
'Date? ' Pete repeats.
'Late, Kate, Date! ' Joe yells.'
'I don't understand, ' Pete tells.
'Date, ' Joe yells.
'Why would Kate leave? ' Pete yells.
'Because you were late, Kate wept, gave back your locket she kept, so she left and went out on a date, ' Joe yells.
