Phil And Kitty Poem by Francis Duggan

Phil And Kitty

His bones may yet rest far from Duhallow where old Clara mountain looks down
On the Countryside of north Cork and east Kerry and the green fields near famed Millstreet Town
But that does not stop him of talking of Millstreet the Millstreet he loved and he knew
To the green white and gold of old Ireland Phil Cronin will always be true.

His wife Kitty a Kildare woman so likeable clever and kind
She is such a beautiful person one blessed with a beautiful mind
She and Phil have been back to Millstreet quite close to a decade ago
Phil met his old mates from the old days John Sing, Patrick Looney, Jerry Shea and Mister O.

They stayed with Phil's sister Margaret Kelleher since then Margaret has passed away
A good woman as i rememeber at peace she forever now lay
They travelled a bit in the Homeland the trip they did surely enjoy
In the hearts of those no longer younger remains the young girl and young boy.

In Phil and Kitty's home in Montrose they do sometimes have a barbeque
Where some of Phil's old mates dropp in for a few beers and a fried sizzle since Phil to his mates remain true
Mick Kissane and Jerry Donovan visit often and Phil's nephews Mick Kelleher and Sean Guy too pay a call
At Phil and Kitty's place in the Melbourne suburbs a cead mile failte for all.

Phil Cronin loves to talk of Millstreet fond memories of home with others he share
He talks of Bridget King and Kitty Cronin of the Rectory two of his old friends who live there
He and Kitty hospitable people as kind as one would wish to meet
And they do live a long way from Ireland from their old homes of Kildare and Millstreet.
