Pioneer



The sign
on first avenue said,
'Pain is Not a Lifestyle.'
I walk'd past it,
grinning, and spit
phlegm on the sidewalk.
A bum on the corner
blew his soul
through a gunmetal saxophone
and nodded at me
as I passed
