Placated To Mollify Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Placated To Mollify

So many can not be genuine.
With it in them to be,
Genuine.

There are times when one can not fake,
A feeling felt to have placated.
Or mollified to stay that way.
Whether temporarily to make okay.
Yet today,
This exception has become the rule.
To soothe with a substitute.
And assumptions to accept.

Placate with something faked.
Some believe to leave it makes no difference.
As long as what is left,
Should give no one reason...
To expect more than they get.

Very few can be placated to mollify,
A feeling felt to keep inside.
Knowing it to stay that way.
With a wish desiring to be gratified.
And not played.
By tricks to fool or belittled by dupes.

Placating to mollify,
Is for kids to trick.
Not for adults to finesse.
With attempts to try,
Routines that have long dried up...
Outdated and overrated lie tests.

There are those wanting,
Something real to feel these days.
And,
So many can not be genuine.
It isn't in them to be genuine.
Or have ever sought to come close to it.
To know what the feeling of being genuine is.
