Once you mistook me
for the menace, the menace
Oh, if you'd only know...
'Cause you can only drive down main street
so many times...
And I walk away,
walk away...
It's in the can...
Might as well go for a soda,
nobody hurts
and nobody cries...
What is it that we stare at? ...
We see you in our fever,
standing by the exit door...
Nobody loves me,
it's true...

We were at a party...
I know how that rabbit feels,
going under your spinning wheels...
And the wind
will blow my tears
away...
Fire all of your guns at once and...
Yet love remains...
When I need you,
you're never there...
Seize the day, I heard him say,
life will not always be this way...
Oh come let us adore him,
abuse and then ignore him...
If I died tomorrow,
I'd be alright,
I've been given so much more in life,
I've got a son, I've got a wife...
We're talkin' 'bout right and wrong...

Your foot in your mouth...
If you're gonna die
you're gonna die...

I didn't realize there was a challenge waiting for me here on Poemhunters, or I would have replied long before today. First I see 'A Million Vacations' by some Canadian group whose name I forget. Of course 'Born to Wild' Steppenwolf 'Go for Soda' very popular in the mid 80's. And my personal favorite, that rings so true right now..... 'You're Never There' by Cake

It was a free association experiment that used many of my favorite 'wordful' songs. It probably will mean more to me than anyone else. Of course, if you can name three of the songs, I'll let you critique the quality of the music that I listen to.

No. You should listen to better music if you are going to make a poem out of it.
