Poems For Ella (I) Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Poems For Ella (I)

thunder loud
and
morning Dawn
all, all dazzle
your brain lights
your eyes open
lovely Ella!
sleep, my love,
my innocent,
my loved one,
my thunder loud,
my lightning proud,
my stars that twinkle
one by one
and
morning Dawn
that your brain lights

Twice you say Ella causes the dawn light to shine. We readers know that is hyperbole but that's not what we are thinking. We are thinking how much light, in the sense of joy, she spreads in your life. The list of epithets does the same thing: it shows how she contains all of the energy of nature in her frame. Once again it's hyperbole but what we are thinking is: Who is the Ella in my life? Who makes the day begin and end because her presence makes life worth living - and celebrating.
