Point And Click Poem by Linda Engwall

Point And Click

The information era
So much
For us to
Reach for
How can
We NOT
Point and click

It is gets under your skin
This ability to
Wham, there it is

Do we dare
How can we not
It is a license to
Peak behind that door of information
That we would not otherwise know

See what we are missing
Living our life through others
Or what we perceive
Sitting in front of that screen

So much information we can look at
But the question is should we

Besides being of that generation
That didn’t grow up sitting in front of anything
All we had was our music
Although what would I have done without that

Yet try it sit in a room with no TV
No computer
What happens to you

Life I hope
When you don’t fill it with all the other stuff
You have the ability to look around
See it, feel it, absorbed in your OWN thoughts
The beautiful sounds, sights around you
To me this is the most magical reality of all

Despite it all though, at times
I am pulled back to the ability to point and click
How do I ignore the progress of time
Isn’t it there for us all to move around
Can’t we learn from this too?
