Pretending Poem by Katherine Bryce

Pretending

Okay I'm done with pretending,
acting like I don't care,
when yet I do,
hence every minute I stare.

I won't try saying,
that you don't mean a thing,
when yet you mean the world,
in which cries for you love to bring.

The world needs you,
as do I,
which is why I never,
want to say good-bye.

Saying good-bye to you,
is like saying good-bye to rain,
and all that would be left,
is hurt and pain.

As you know,
what I feel for you is strong,
and It will never,
feel wrong.

Just knowing,
that you'll be there,
gives me all the more,
reasons to care.

You're the smile,
I'll wear this day,
and I'll follow you,
every step of the way.

It's like a fairy tale,
written for you and me,
but in the end,
the two can't be.

Romeo and Juliet,
in modern time,
although without,
the death and rhyme.

I've spend a long time,
dreaming of you,
I know it seems foolish,
but it's completely true.

I dream about you,
to many times to add,
even though one day,
I'll be broken and sad.

I know that one day,
I must give up on you,
but until then,
I'll stay true.

Thank you so much! Honestly though, I didn't know what I was going to portray in this one. I knew I was going to express how I feel and what I think, but I didn't know how far I'd go with expressing it. I just knew the first few stanzas.... It was really a just pour everything out poem, however I'm glad you enjoyed it!
