Pretentious Pomp Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Pretentious Pomp

Pretentious pomp.
Displayed to portray,
A mindless thoughtlessness...
To the circumstance of it.

Disregarded,
Complete and totally...
Is the effect this leaves,
On those exposed...
To a threatening pandemic.
For the purpose to feed...
The further diseasing,
Of mentalities...
Cheering the presence of one needing,
An attention to crave.
That a narcisstic ego,
Has to parade.

Although...
Dismissing all warnings told,
To stay and remain in isolation.
Is not enough to accept.
Even in the midst,
Of a life threatening virus one gets.
Hoping to contradict,
The appearance of death.
Perceiving with this to have believed,
One narcissistic afflicted with ego.
Alone can defeat,
Death as if in competition with it.
And...
Will survive.
To become self proclaimed a hero!

Proving...
Some nuts in the thickest of shells,
Can not believe they will be broken!
