Pretty Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

Pretty

all the men wanted her
when she was a kid
they took her sanctity
she was so pretty

and nobody loved her
they'd say they would
then leave

and she swore, someday
they'll all stay
someday, i'll be a god
someday, i'll have it all

she got skinny and grew up
she took pills, was good enough

they all wanted her
but nobody knew her
and wanting isn't loving
it's empty
when you're pretty

you were a god
and you lost it all
fame was never enough
the whole world
watched you fall

and I know
you didn't want to be pretty
all you ever wanted was to be loved
i know because i'm just like you
i grew up a pretty girl too
