Prisoner In Your Own World Poem by David Hockaday

Prisoner In Your Own World

Rating: 4.5

Trapped with no escape,
at the place where I hate.
My self determination is lost,
and my heart right now is colder than Jack Frost.
I am exposed to mental torture,
by myself in this dark corner.
I close my eyes and dream,
and think to myself how bad I want to be free.
I open my eyes and my mind is playing tricks on me.
Forced to face the hardship of reality,
Realizing that I am in a place where I must behave submissively.
I am a prisoner, I am my own husband and wife,
As I look at my reflection in the mirror, I say unto myself,
'Welcome to my life'.

Amen to what Chinedu Dike said below. You can choose your own destiny.

You don't have to be trapped with no escape because you are the master of your fate and the captain of your soul, which are the central tenets of the poem INVICTUS. FAITH KEEPS THOSE THAT KEEP THE FAITH - Mother Teresa. I like the articulation and penning of your poem as it captured how you really feel inside. A nice piece indeed. Thanks for sharing and do keep it up. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
