Proud Of My Color Poem by Hebert Logerie

Proud Of My Color

I am utterly proud to carry my color.
My heart is not different than yours,
Actually, it is very similar.
And my soul is intangible like yours.
Therefore, you're not any better.

The rays of the sun have a special effect,
On our pigmentation; they affect
The nuances and the tones of our shade.
No matter where you're from, you were made
In Africa, from the Mother Land; that's a fact.

My shoes and my belt are black.
My sneakers and my hat are white.
Human beings can never get it right.
The exterior skin is simply a special sack,
An organ, covering the front and the back.

I am proud to be who I am.
I do not want to be like Sam.
You should be proud of who you are.
You should not wage war,
On an offspring who bears a similar scar.
