Provoking Truth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Provoking Truth

Truth may not provide...
Ongoing scandals.
Presented to be discovered,
Delicious and drool worthy.
Solicited by rumor mongers.
Awaiting for their daily fix of gossip.
Truth when it comes to visit,
Is much more sensational.

Truth may not provide...
Standing room only.
Given to the ones dressed to impress.
And permitted to deceive.
Behind pulpits and podiums.
While cloaked to hide,
Their sleazy misdeeds.
Sold to sell and have believed.

Truth may not provide...
Those dignified with self righteousness,
A place to hide hypocrisy.
Since truth does not provide,
Permanent shelter...
For liars, crooks.
Or their corrupted activities.
These are different times we live.

What truth provides,
For those who question...
And dare to provoke truth as if a joke.
Is a place to dwell
Locked away in a prison cell.
With a personalized message sent.
Only truth can do.
Not assuming but to prove,
How truth delivers the 'goods' unquestioned!
