Puppet
Wrapped within your rigid chains,
your eyes unmoving and wintry
I am defenseless and unchanged
like a leaf adrift, a puppet of the wind.
No matter what I do or say
like a vicious wave, you take over me
breathless and unforgiving
I am silenced by your heartless whispers.
Even when you’re gone
I suffer, surrounded by misery
and not wanting to rid myself of you,
you don’t even have to try.
