Put Aside Your Differences Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

Put Aside Your Differences

Rating: 5.0

Put aside your differences
Forget about the past,
Forgive those who've upset you
And don't let that feeling last,
A time to come together
With your family and your friends,
And those for which you care the most
On whom your life depends.

Take care of all your neighbours now
For some might be alone,
And spend a little time with them
Don't have a heart of stone,
Please see they don't go hungry
And then warm them if they're cold,
Then give them all that you can spare
For one day you'll be old.

If Christmas brings no presents
And rich gifts you can't afford,
Instead of feeling sorry then
Find comfort in the Lord,
Give all that you that you can offer
In the name of God above,
For the greatest gift costs nothing
For it is the gift of love.

The title of this appealed to me for reasons of which some will be aware; the content.... let's just say those soppy meaningless 'poems' in Christmas cards ought to be thrown to the dust and replaced with intelligent, provoking, well-penned verse such as this. Top-notch Andrew. t x
