Quaking Aspen Love Poem by Christine K. Trease

Quaking Aspen Love

I carved your name into a tree,
It was for you, but also me.
It wasn't planned, as it should be
derived from spontaneity.

I took a drive down Lover's Lane
just me and a bottle of champagne
my lust for you could hold no more
I carved the name whom I adore

Much like my love, I carved it deep
just 'Hey Tiger' in the tree
In hopes you'd see as you passed by
and want to carve me your reply

Still today, I feel the same
as I did the day I carved your name
into a tree in hopes you'd see
you did, and then you married me.
