Questions Poem by Tondana Fatimah Seebaway

Questions

The sun rises in the east
The moon appears after sunset
Vegetation is green
Honey is derived from honey bees

Your heart is purple
Why trynna make it blue?
The pot is obviously black
Why say it is white?

You know that which you say is not right
Why say that which is untrue?
My words you misconstrue
When they are intelligible to you

The world is filled with so much lies
While the universe is so precise
The truth will always resurface
Do you or do you not realise?

Why taint your pure soul?
And trade it all for gold
Why snatch the well-being of others?
And crush it beneath your sole

Is snow not always white?
Has the night not always been black?
Do the stars not shine at night?
Does the moon not beckon at dusk?

All these glaring signs of nature
What do they mean to you?
Why don't you take cue?
Or do you not ponder?

The best of all creatures
So be the best in all you do
Be natural, be yourself
It really pays to be true
