Quick Steps Poem by Naveed Akram

Quick Steps

My quick walk is showing me to dance,
These steps quake and shake my breath away;
My shoes stain the floor with the days of training
As far as the judges can see of what is seen.

My calling and my dance are as I write my shoes
And the feet they surround, forming music within,
Like the breath that catches so well
After the bands have vacated and left it.

My futile nights connect to see, after the light
Enters the room of the floor that dances,
Liking the musical weather
And loving the magical feeling.
