Quicksand Poem by Susan Alldred Lugton

Quicksand

Feet in sand now;
unable to discern.
Is this the point,
of no return?

Both my knees now;
deeper and then deeper.
It is over,
god my keeper.

My small waist now;
cannot see my legs.
A new feeling;
life over, dregs.

Both shoulders now;
only my head above.
Last look at life;
goodbye my love.

Two eyelids now;
cannot breathe any more.
Death approaching,
pain gone, no more.
