Rain God Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Rain God

Rain god, stop now

The sky has torn apart
And it seems it will start
Destroying the earth with one blow
The whole of the country is reeling under water flow

The rivers are in spate
The people are starving in states
The mountains are giving in space
With stones and mud falling on public places

The death toll is mounting
With waters entering
In their houses and bringing down
Roof tops with casualties unknown

Unpreparedness and weak construction adds more woe
The people are subjected to struggle as down pour goes
Unabated and seems as if sky has opened its secret arm
With total aim of causing great harm

First time, the animals are threatened with lives
The waters have entered national parks
They are forced to go on high plateau
To save lives and stay through

Rain God
