Rape Poem by louis rams

Rape

Rating: 2.5

There is the raping of the land and the raping
Of the body and mind and the damages left behind.
The Indians believe that what you take from the land
you give back in any way you can.
You take only what you need to survive and the
Rest is left behind.
When you rape a woman there is nothing that you can give back
that can replace her dignity, her hopes and dreams
Her self respect, her fears, and what may lurk in the shadows.
Her mind becomes like a spider web, taking everything in
And letting nothing out.
You did not ask for it, you did not flaunt your wares
But for a rapist they don't carebecause in their mind it is a
Power play and there is nothing that you can do or say.
The damage has been done and there is nothing that you can do
So just let others know what you have gone through.
Warning others of steps that they can taketo avoidbeing
A victim of rape.
Becoming the voice of the unheard victims who are afraid to speak
Because they feel scared, humiliated, or weak.
The " ME TOO " movement is now a trend to try to get
This violence to end.

Raping is a heinous crime, no less than a murder. Rapists deserve no mercy.
