Ravenous Poem by Caroline Bulleck

Ravenous

Simply reading poetry
Is not enough for me
I want to feel the page
Smell the book's age
Breathe in every simile
Mull over each allegory
Slowly savor the velvety rhyme
The syllables upon my lips each time
Momentarily stunned by the tart intensity
I appreciate the author's complexity
I thoroughly chew every metaphor
Swallow each verse, hungering for more
Alas, it seems I've reached the end
Not nearly satisfied, I start over again
