Reality Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Reality

Understanding, does not necessitate,
Making reality, less bitter.
Though it can be sweet, ‘tis most times,
Palatable at best.

Desiring to make life better,
Often times, we just fain oblivious.
When in reality we know better,
BUT, ‘tis less painful.

Fear causes most, to be other, than rational.
For rational, in and of it’s self,
Indicates a firm grasp of our faculties.
And I have not, that grip.

Amazing, is the response to the one that we love,
That, bring us from the brink of despair,
Filling the void, with that which we lacked,
And our hearts with love.

Blissful it is to feel the happiness and hope,
That comes from being truly loved.
Loved, and respected, not manipulated.
Wanted, for and what you are.

Not for what we can or will give,
Not for what we are willing to do.
But because I am me, and loved for being just that.
Respected, and loved and wanted… for me.

What a foreign concept,
To the mind of one such as I.
But I smile as I write this, for I do,
Now know. And I love every minute
