Recalling Previous Years. Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Recalling Previous Years.

How wonderful is Christmas
when snowflakes flurry by,
and from that little barren tree
a robin redbreast scans the sky...
but however pretty is the snow
however hearts are yearning
wheels of commerce must go round
and industry must keep turning.
So be prepared ye snow-ploughs.
please just lend a hand...
to make safe all the hills and byways.
Local authorities have your say:
clear each sidewalk 'salt those lanes',
make safe the roads and highways.
