Red Sea Poem by Bree Swart

Red Sea

Swimming in a red sea,
Regretting life,
For what it turned out to be.

All these lies,
Flow from your mouth,
All these lies,
Fill me with doubt.

Gasping for air,
Trying to hold on,
But my skin tears,
When I try to run.

Run away from your abusive ways,
Run away, from those things you say,
Jump over those obstacles you built,
Run around, avoiding the guilt.

The guilt for not standing up for what is right,
The guilt for never having the courage to fight,
The guilt for always pushing you away.
For this guilt, I will soon pay.
