Red Velvet Wedding
It was a wedding of white
Spattered with red—
The flowers sang celebrations
As the old bell rang
The time was approaching
The time was running
They took their places
They played their parts
In this wedding of white
Dripping in red—
Some cheered and smiled
Some quietly rejoiced
The music danced
And the world spun
The stars shone
But the night fell
On this wedding of white
Laced in red.
