Red Vs. Red Poem by beautiful imperfection

Red Vs. Red

The spirits inside my arms scream,
'Release us, watch yourself bleed! '
Tears blur my vision; inside, i scream,
'Let me see the real red I need! '

But the colors blend together,
black, white, and red.
The redemption I need is lost,
bitterly replaced by feeling so dead.

Which one do I choose?
Am I strong enough to stand?
Will I read the words of comfort,
or soon find red on my wrists, just above each hand?

The spirits make it seem as one,
in my utterly confused mind.
'His way won't make you feel as good;
You should definitely choose mine! '

The spirits hiss,
the demons roar,
until I scream,
'I can't take this anymore! '

Reaching for the words of life,
the truth I know is real.
I finally find comfort,
and release, all the things these demons make me feel.
