Reflection Poem by Laz Dixon

Reflection

In a brief second in time
And a flash of light upon glass
The window becomes a mirror
The perceiving becomes perceived
The student rebukes the teacher
And the observer is observed
The automatic questions that are used to judge and identify are now reflected back
Who am I?
Do I know myself?
Am I a friend or foe?

These overwhelming questions scatter thoughts like leaves in the wind
The mind trying hopelessly to gather them and keep them under control
Left with no answer, it stutters in silence
A second is an eternity, a mere flash a roaring sun
Burning to judge the flaws and faults of oneself

The door to the inner soul closes
The mirror no longer reflects
Time passes, the the flash of light no more
The eye returns to its work

'Do not look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye, when you have a plank in your own'

An introspection reveals naked truth and leaves one eager to make amends .To err is human....... Well envisioned. Thanks
