Reflections
As I stand in front of my mirror,
the reflection is not what I expect to see
Who are you I ask, came the reply,
I am you and together we are me
Puzzled by the reply I pressed further,
how can we both be me
Came the reply,
I am the me that others are not permitted to see
How can it be that we both are me,
you are you and I am me
What part are you of me
that others are not permitted to see
Came the reply,
I am fear, I am loathing, I am apathy
Surely this cannot be,
you cannot be a manifestation of me
Came the reply,
I am you and together we are all of me
All of me, how can this possibly be,
you are you and I am me
You and I are me,
we are the guise that no one ever truly sees
The questions you ask
are the truth of you that you refuse to see
Staggered was I by me,
the answers I gave of me are as true as true can be
The reflection did not lie,
I was he and he was me and together we are indeed me
The epiphany then came crashing
that we are the me that no one ever truly sees
So remember, when next we meet,
I am merely the me that I want you to see
